In Appreciation of William Grant Still; A Virtual Benefit Concert


A concert organized by Baylie K. Adams for Black History Month.


(T)he concert was presented in honour of the composer William Grant Still. He was one of the first of many influential classical composers of African-American heritage. His music holds historic importance in that he was the first African-American to conduct an orchestra in the US and have his Afro-American Symphony performed by a mainstream orchestra in the US.
