UNDERGRADUATE APPLICANTS
Saxophone auditions for Undergraduate study should include the performance of two selections:
- one slow composition (etude or concert piece) drawn from the standard concert repertoire that demonstrates legato, expressive playing;
- one contrasting fast composition (etude or concert piece) that demonstrates technical facility and articulation.
Applicants are encouraged to audition in person, preferably with piano accompaniment, or applicants may send a DVD or link to a site where audition jury members can view your online audition.
A pianist can be contracted for a reasonable fee. Please contact the Professor by email with a request for an accompanist.DVD/internet video auditions should include the following vital information:
- name and address of applicant: audio or text.
- date and place of recording: text
- titles of compositions/tracks: text
- name(s) of accompanist(s): text

Individual tracks must present uninterrupted performances.
- Recordings may not contain any edits within a track. I.e., no combining different 'takes' or performances of the same composition into one composite or combined track.
- Do not use audio conditioning: e.g., equalization.
- Unless a live performance includes the use of electronics, do not use digital or analog effects such as reverb, etc.

Applicants may choose compositions from the list of recommended audition pieces or compositions of a similar level. See the Audition Guide below.
