December 2014 Wrap-up

It was a busy end-of-term for saxophone students engaged in a variety of performances which included: Sonic Lab (Adam/Nov. 22nd); Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra (Sean/L'arlesienne Suites 1 & 2/Nov. 23rd); UVic Orchestra (Austin/Prokofiev Romeo & Juliet 1 & 2); Wind Symphony; and the massed UVic choirs concert at Christ Church Cathedral on December 5th (Austin/UVic Chorus).

With Autumn memory etude juries completed, the Class presses onward toward the January 24th Saxophone Class Recital @ 12:30pm - 2:30pm.

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Master Class Time/Locale Change

As confirmed in a previous group email, due to scheduling considerations, the Master Class will be in B016 on Wednesdays at 2:30pm. However, because of further scheduling challenges created by the shift of Master Class, Quartets will now begin at 3:30pm, 4:30pm and 5:30pm instead of 1:30pm.
  • A private lesson time has been made available from 1:30pm to 2:20pm.
The Lesson Schedule is now posted on the door of the Saxophone Studio, B080, for students to sign up for a lesson time. Please note:
  • Check your class schedule before signing up for a lesson so you can keep the same saxophone lesson time for both the first and second semesters.
The Saxophone Syllabus will be updated online at the end of the first week of September to reflect the changes and to take into consideration any further accommodations that may need to be made.

The first Master Class, Sept. 3rd, will be held in B016 immediate following the welcome back gathering of the General Assembly, at 2:30pm as scheduled.
  • We will necessarily need to discuss the PTY Recital Hall schedule in order to give students performance time in the bigger space.
The Concert Etude will not be posted online. The Etude will be announced in the first Master Class. Copies of the Comparative Performance Memory Piece will be made available in the first Master Class.

See you all soon!—W.C.
